About Our Seconds

From time to time, bars emerge with more than an aged look of imperfections: slight size variations or detail variations that simply didn’t meet my personal “A‑grade” standard for these weathered Old World Book Design. These bars are lovingly called Seconds. They are still crafted with the same time, intention, ingredients, and artistry as every premium bar; they simply scored a quiet “B” on my internal quality card. Their beauty, performance, and meaning remain unchanged… only their appearance or size carries a unique quirk that sets them apart. These “Seconds” don’t come in a box like the “A grade” Weathered Old World Book Soap do from the same batch. It will come with an ingredient label and will not share that they are “Seconds”.

“In the Midst of Lamentation, There Is Hope” — Custom Artisan Book‑Soap

Hand‑carved to resemble an old‑world book, this artisan soap is a keepsake of comfort, beauty, and Scripture. Every detail is intentionally crafted: the carved “pages,” the mica painted binding, the watercolor‑style mist swirling through the bar, and the hand‑stamped words that speak life into weary places.

On the front cover, the gold‑highlighted stamp reads: “In the Midst of Lamentation There Is Hope.” The spine carries a simple, steady reminder: HOPE, stamped in white. The back bears the Scripture reference Psalm 119:49–50, a verse of remembrance and comfort.

Inside the bar, soft watercolor waves of charcoal, indigo, and cocoa create a mist‑like design. It is a visual echo of hope rising through sorrow. The binding is brushed with mica to give the “book” a gentle, timeworn glow.

Crafted with a gentle fragrance oil and enriched with goat milk, this bar produces a creamy, soothing lather. Kaolin clay adds silkiness, while botanicals and natural colorants create depth and movement within the design. It’s both a functional soap and a meaningful gift: a reminder that even in lamentation, hope remains.
