“Mama Do you know if you lie you actually forget what the truth is? Did you know that Mama?” she asked again. I had just picked her up from school and our conversation was flowing easily about her day. She had gym, played outside because the weather was nice and practised her spelling words as a whole class.
“Charlotte Bryant” I said, “How in the world can you understand something so profound by the age of seven?” “I don’t know?” she said as her blue eyes gazed out the window.
The simple yet deeply complex question begs to be rearranged and slowly read.
What lie do you actually believe that is keeping you locked up from becoming all you can be in Christ?
The enemy who roams around like a hungry lion has his own plan for you. It is to keep you imprisoned and gagged so you are a slave to his agenda. He wants to keep you blinded and captured so you serve him.
He will happily lure you away in temptation promising that which seems deeply appealing yet the whole time he snickers with delight as he wants to kill, steal and destroy you.
He taunts and teases tearing down your character, stripping away integrity and meaning until you are dust.
He is so subtle yet we blindly follow his path into destruction.
Relationships are crushed, self esteem crumbles, character shatters and lives become a mess.
The hidden festers in darkness where his power keeps you caged.
Don’t be fooled friend. If he can keep you constrained in convincing lies then he knows he has won that very part of you.
“You are sold into slavery with sin being your master.” Romans 7:14
Paul expressed himself in Romans 7:18 with a deep understanding-
“And I know that nothing good lives in me, that is, in my sinful nature. I want to do what is right, but I can’t. I want to do what is good, but I don’t. I don’t want to do what is wrong, but I do it anyway. But if I do what I don’t want to do, I am not really the one doing wrong; it is sin living in me that does it.
21 I have discovered this principle of life—that when I want to do what is right, I inevitably do what is wrong. I love God’s law with all my heart. But there is another power within me that is at war with my mind. This power makes me a slave to the sin that is still within me. Oh, what a miserable person I am! Who will free me from this life that is dominated by sin and death? Thank God! The answer is in Jesus Christ our Lord.
The answer I want to scream from the mountain tops is Jesus Christ. The one who will redeem any situation, your situation which looks bleak and overwhelming.
Look into the future and see freedom. Pursue it with all your might.
Start making choices…right choices.
His power breaks chains, sets the captive free, gives new beginnings, heals wounds, releases hurt and restores broken hearts.
We live in a spiritual world, we can’t deny it.
There is a war being fought for you.
Who will have victory?
Jesus loves you with an undeniable passion. He sees you, knows you and leans in when you call upon Him.
He is ferocious when battling wars in your name.
His plan is to marinate you with joy, peace, gentleness, kindness, goodness and unfailing love.
Whatever hard situation you’re in, know Christ came to overcome. He sees the best in you and can provide a new beginning right now.
